Dear Parents,

Hello! I'm Mary Beth Zaremski, and I reside in town with my husband, Gary and my two children: Jennifer, a graduate of Bentley College, and Jeffrey, a junior entering Bentley College. In my free time, I enjoy attending concerts, traveling, and following the UConn Huskies.
Welcome to my web page.  Here you will find homework assignments and other news relating to the class. Each child has been given an agenda and is expected to keep their assignments in them. I ask parents to initial the agenda each day.  Please feel free to contact me by note, email, or phone during regular school hours if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your cooperation during this school year.

What We Will Be Studying

In language arts, the class is reading stories with the theme school days.  We will be working on the following skills:  identifying the setting and main characters, finding the main idea, and using vocabulary in context.  Answering open ended reading response questions will also be our focus in preparation for CMT.   In addition, we will be working on the  punctuating sentences and capitalization.  We will also work on parts of speech: nouns, verbs, and adjectives.

In math, the students will continue to sharpen the basic +/- facts.  Please review orally facts to 18 with your child.  We will be working on writing numbers four ways: standard form, place value , expanded form, and word form.  We will working with place value to the hundreds.

In social studies we will be studying about communities and learning about Watertown.  In science, we will be learning about habitats.

Throughout the year, I look for parent volunteers.  If you would like to help out in the computer lab, be a guest reader, or if you have a special talent, please contact me at school.

Homework is subject to change on any given day.  Please refer to the student's agenda each day to check on assignments and  please initial the agenda daily.
